BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin Friday reiterated the mainland's support for Hong Kong to achieve long-term prosperity and stability.

The mainland would unswervingly be a strong backer for Hong Kong to help the Special Administrative Region to achieve long-term prosperity and stability, said Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Jia, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks when he met with a delegation of the Hong Kong Federation of Fujian Associations headed by the federation's chairman Lam ShuChit.

The federation is a non-profit organization formed by more than100 Hong Kong-based Fujian communities in 1997.

Jia said he hoped the federation could support the administration of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in coping with the international financial turmoil and contribute to the region's economic development.
